1. Conventional Ceiling

The most commonly used ceilings all around the globe is a conventional ceiling. You can see it in most of the homes. It is basically a simple flat surface with an easily approachable height. There is nothing so special about a conventional ceiling. In some places, you can find a little-textured ceiling which is also known as popcorn ceiling. But if you want to do anything special with a conventional ceiling you will have to get ready to pay a big amount of sum just to get it decorated.

2. Dropped Ceiling

These types of ceilings are not the actual ceiling; these are extended part of the real ceiling and are also known as suspended or false ceiling. These types of ceilings are usually used in commercial lines where it can hide a duct line, wires or anything between the real and the dropped ceiling. These ceilings are used to make a place come to life again, for example, an old basement or a nonfunctional garage can be turned into something great. It is easy and cheap to get installed and easy to repair as well.

3. Tin Ceiling

Tin ceilings can give your home a retro look. In 1880s tin ceiling was used as it could protect the house from the fire as open fire stoves were in fashion those days. And there was not an abundance of electricity so when there were a lot of candles lit the tin or at that time names as steel ceilings were used. Nowadays the panel isn’t very heavy and they are much thinner than the ones used in the 80s. You can use the tin plates in original silver color or rustic brown or another color of your choice to give your house a chic look.

4. Exposed Ceiling

These types of the ceiling are usually used in industries as it gives a look of a building which is under construction. The beam, the duct, the wiring everything is exposed in a way that the ceiling looks beautiful and gives an ambiance related to work.

5. Beam Ceiling

This was a fashion used decades ago which has now come back as a rustic look for your house. The designers insert a beam on the ceiling to make the house look more attractive. The beam is then inserted while renovation or while the construction. Beams can have adverse effect on the home as well; if you have a home with low ceiling a beam might make your house look congested.

The design capabilities of a beam structured house are endless. Creativity can lead to more than 1000s of designs for a beamed ceiling. Traditionally, beams were made of wood. But now there are different types of materials with different shapes and designs of beams available for construction which will give your house a great look.

6. Tray Ceiling

Think of a conventional ceiling, with a recessed portion (about 6 inches in the ceiling). What did you picture it? That is what a tray ceiling looks like. This recessed portion looks like a groove in the ceiling and this groove can take a lot of pretty looking shapes. Just as a tray the shapes of the grooves are limitless. And between the recessed part and the original ceiling, you can apply a lot of different and beautiful lights. This can make your ceiling look amazing.

7. Vaulted / Cathedral Ceiling

These types of ceiling cannot be renovated into; instead, these are architectural design. It is thought and made in the regions with either excessive rainfall or snowfall as these kinds of ceilings won’t withhold a lot of water in them resulting in the safety of the house from water.

Vaulted Ceilings are usually used in drawing rooms and the halls on the floor which holds the main area of the house, but the popularity of these ceilings are increasing in the master bedrooms and even in the bathroom.

8. Barrel Vault Ceiling

Much like the vaulted ceilings, this is also the ceiling which is architectural design. These ceilings have the same properties as the vaulted ceilings. They are mainly used in the living rooms or a long hallway. The name Barrel Vault is used because when you look at the ceiling it seems as if someone has cut open a barrel into two halves and has put it over the ceiling.

These ceilings are also known as a tunnel or wagon vault ceilings. The ceiling looks very dramatic and if you use bricks or stones with the ceiling. It will give you a feeling of walking through a hallway of some ancient king. And you can make yourself a king in the process.

9. Domed Ceiling

Domes, as we all know it, are at the big forts or mausoleums or big temples, at the entry gate. It gives a chic feeling where domes can be painted with a lot of finesse, mosaic, embellishments and it can be fixed with lightings so amazing that when someone walks into your home it looks just as magical as walking through some great castle of a king.

10. Coffered Ceiling

Unlike the tray ceiling a coffered ceiling is has a lot of grooves or recessed parts of the ceiling which is not associated with one part of the ceiling but is spread evenly throughout the room. The recessed part of the ceiling is not bound with any particular shape. You can use a lot of squares or different triangles. It gives your roof class and elegance.
