Streamlining Movie Recommendations with Friendspire

Movie Recommendations with Friendspire

As great as all the online streaming content is, you might often find yourself struggling to find a good recommendation for the current movie night. There several reasons why it’s hard to pick a movie: content overload, fake reviews, recommendations for total strangers, and a lack of personal relevance. Too much time is wasted working through all of these problems, and Friendspire aims to cut through the noise, so you can spend more time enjoying and less time scrolling.

When hearing the solution to finding good recommendations fast, it sounds so simple to many. Friendspire focuses on helping you get recommendations from friends. When looking for your next movie to watch, a book to read, and a restaurant to dine at, we often turn to friends for suggestions. The thing is that we can’t reach out to our friends for help every time we need it, and sometimes we forget their recommendations.

Friendspire centralizes your friends’ thoughts in one app. Instead of reaching out to all your friends for what restaurant to go to for date night or movie to watch for movie night, you can pull up the app and do a couple of things:

  • Look up specific friends to see what movies the rated well
  • Use the average friend ratings on curated lists if you are in the mood for a certain genre (i.e. rom coms)
  • Pick a trending movie from the front page
  • Use the app to watch trailers and see info about the movies

With these tools, you can find your movie night movie within minutes instead of wasting ten to thirty minutes scrolling through different streaming services and recommendation lists on Google.

Let’s walk through an example:

It’s date night, and my significant other and I are looking for a good rom-com to watch. I pull up the Friendspire app (on iOS or Android) and click a rom-com, chick flick, or date night list. I saw that my friends gave a 9.2/10 rating on a certain movie, so I pressed that movie to see what it was about and to watch the trailer. The movie, like my friends’ ratings implied, looks good, and the app says where the movie can be found. After watching, I felt like the movie was an 8/10 and rated it, so other friends know in the future. The process is so streamlined that I’m hooked and want to continue using Friendspire for TV, books, podcasts, bars, and restaurant recommendations.

Alright, you might think this an overly-ideal example and that you take more time to find recommendations, but the process is not that different if you need more time to make decisions.

Let’s walk through another example:

It’s date night, and my significant other and I are looking for a good rom-com to watch. I pull up the Friendspire app (on iOS or Android) and am not feeling super motivated by the trending movies on the front page. Since it’s date night, I pull up a rom-com, chick flick, or date night movie list, but don’t feel motivated by the movies shown. After looking through the lists, I go to the page of my friend that I have a lot in common with and see that they rated a movie a 10. Since I trust my friend’s recommendation, I watch the movie and loved it.

Even if you aren’t motivated by the curated lists on the app, there are ways to find great and relevant recommendations. I personally love how easy Friendspire has made it to try new things and can’t wait to see more friends get on the app.
