Hiking is a great way to improve your heart health and strengthen your muscles. Moreover, getting out in nature reduces anxiety and improves mental health. And, if you have a hiking buddy, it’s a wonderful way to build a solid relationship and spend quality time together without distractions.

Highline Trail Hike: Glacier National Park, Montana 

Far from large crowds, you’ll find the Highline Trail, which is 7.6 miles round trip. The path is well-maintained and mostly flat, unique in a park surrounded by mountains. You’ll have views of the peaks, as well as the lake and meadows.

Just be sure to check the weather beforehand and ensure the trail will be open during your visit. 

Frozen Niagara Cave Hike: Mammoth Cave National Park, Kentucky

If you have small children, hikes longer than a mile can still be challenging. But, this hike is only a quarter-mile long, making it a great pick for the whole family. Plus, children will love to see the rock formations in and around the cave. 

The whole hike and cave tour only takes about an hour, perfect for an afternoon outing! 

Mahaulepu Heritage Trail: Kauai, Hawaii

On the southern coast of Kauai, you’ll find this relatively flat trail with stunning ocean views. It’s about 3.5 miles long roundtrip, starting and finishing at Shipwreck Beach. Nearby, you’ll find a cliff where you can take great pictures! 

If you plan on hiking this trail, all you’ll need is a pair of supportive water shoes and sunscreen.

Ewoldsen Trail Hike: Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, California

California is a paradise for adventure lovers and hikers, but this hike still stands out from the rest if you’ve never been to Big Sur.

This five-mile trail loops around views of the Pacific, grassy valleys, redwoods, and mountains. It’s not completely flat, and you will need to climb a bit, but it’s pretty manageable for people of all fitness levels. 

If you’re up for a longer hike, check out the Canyon Trail that joins with this one and leads to a sixty-foot waterfall!
