Types of Pins for Baseball: Which Is Right for You?

When it comes to sports, few types of sports evoke a feeling more American than baseball. Football might try to claim the crown, but baseball is, and always will be, America’s number one game. If you aren’t watching Major League Baseball games, then you’re taking your kids to little league or watching college games.

One of the most popular ways to commemorate a baseball team, season, or game is with a baseball pin. If you’re considering getting baseball pins, then you’re probably curious about the types of pins available. Read on to learn all about your options!

Offset Printed Pins

Offset printed pins are a pretty popular option amongst those in need of baseball pins. Not only are they made within 10 days, but they cost less than other types of pens, by about $0.25 to $0.50 per pin.

Offset printed pins don’t require lines in order to separate colors, and they are printed on white iron sheet metal and stamped individually. You have a choice of thickness, up to 1.2mm. Once they’ve been printed and stamped, they are then covered with a thin layer of epoxy which serves to protect the surface of the pin.

Soft Enamel Pins

Soft enamel pins are easily one of the most popular options when it comes to baseball pins. In fact, up to 70 percent of trading pins you encounter at tournaments are the soft enamel type.

The proper name for these pins is “die struck soft enamel” because a custom die with your pin design on it strikes iron metal to create your pins on a one-by-one basis. Most soft enamel pins have silver, gold, or black-toned plates and lines between all of the colors in the design.

The downside to soft enamel pins is that they take a bit longer to produce. Expect a two-week turnaround time to receive your order.

Quick Pins

Quick pins are named after the speed at which they can be created. Depending on where you source your quick pins, you can receive them in as little time as three days from the date you ordered them. As a result, they’re a great option when you need pins made fairly quickly.

Quick pins consist of a 1.5mm thick base, which means that the weight of the pin is similar to soft enamel pins. Once the pins are printed, they are then covered with an epoxy layer, locking the design in the pin.
