Working Smarter, Not Harder: 5 Creative Ways to Be More Productive

Your time is precious, so when you end up wasting it, it’s never a good thing. But maintaining high levels of productivity day in day out can be tricky, so it is understandable. Though it’s not ideal, procrastination is something that everyone engages in from time to time.

If you’d like to have days that are overall more efficient and fruitful, this is possible to achieve. There are lots of creative ways to be more productive—some of which you may never have considered before.

Want to learn how to get more done with your time? Read on for some excellent tips for being more productive now.

1. Put Down Your Cell Phone

Our cell phones are super useful devices that can help us in lots of ways. But when used in the wrong way, they can be the biggest productivity-sapping items in existence. How many times have you accidentally scrolled through Tiktok or Twitter for half an hour straight?

Tip number 1: be smarter about your smartphone use! If you still need to be on your phone, there are lots of apps you can install to help limit the time you spend on social media.

2. Minimize Distractions

If your desk is covered in things like snacks, games, and access to social media sites, then you’re setting yourself up to be distracted. Try and declutter your desk and leave only the essentials. Minimizing the distractions in your immediate vicinity will give you the best chance to maintain focus and increase productivity.

3. Know Your Body Rhythms

Did you know the reason you’re a little lethargic after lunch is actually down to your body’s natural rhythm? Something called your circadian rhythm modulates your waking behavior, affecting energy levels throughout the day. You can take advantage of this by choosing optimum times for important tasks.

Usually, energy levels are high in the morning and tend to level off right after lunchtime. Then, in the evening, there’s a little bit of a perk up of energy once again.

4. One Task At a Time

While it may seem like you could get a lot more done by doing multiple tasks at one time, in reality, this isn’t a good idea. In the very best-case scenario, you’ll usually end up doing a little more work half as well as you normally would. By focusing on one task at a time, you’ll do better quality work and you’ll get individual tasks done more quickly.

5. Use Technology to Your Advantage

While wasting time on your phone isn’t a good idea, there are many ways technology can actually help to increase your productivity. Try looking into different apps and programs to help maximize your time and your focus. Even something simple, like a workflow optimization tool, can make a huge difference to your day.

The Best Ways to Be More Productive

The truth is there are countless ways to be more productive. This is why it’s a good idea to experiment with different methods to see which one works best for you.
