Don’t Get Stumped: Benefits of Using a Fecon STUMPEX for Stump Grinding

Fecon STUMPEX is a two-speed stump grinder giving lawn care professionals and homeowners more control over how they manage their properties. Rather than allowing anxiety over yard unruliness to win the day, they can address issues that might otherwise get the Homeowners Association up in arms.

That’s surprisingly real anxiety, too. As Dr. Gary Solomon noted in his 2010 study, HOAs have been known to give property owners anxiety and even post-traumatic stress disorder!

Well, not on the Fecon STUMPEX’s watch. Here are five benefits of putting it to use for you.

1. Very Little Maintenance

This particular equipment was made for stump grinding. Blades only need to be greased and sharpened, and they’re good for 1,000 more stumps after doing so.

For a lawn care professional, it’s entirely possible to get through a whole season before ever needing to address it. A typical homeowner, on the other hand, could go years without it. Either way, you spend less money and time to keep it running.

2. Saves Time

Stump removal does take time to do well, but it takes much less if you’ve got the right equipment. The Fecon STUMPEX possesses enough torque and energy efficiency to settle in 20 inches deep with low RPM.

As a result, some of the most common stumps hiding around your yard tend to measure between eight and 28 inches. These can be taken out in one pass. Anything larger may require two or more, but it’s still entirely manageable.

3. Goes Deep

A stump grinder needs to be able to get deep below the surface for two reasons. First, there’s the stump itself. The core root is much further below the surface than what you see. (In some cases, three or more feet.)

Secondly, there are the feeder roots. Feeder roots absorb water and nutrients and help a tree’s continued growth. If your goal is to remove a tree stump altogether, removing the feeder roots is essential.

Otherwise, you may think you’ve gotten everything. In time, however, the tree could reform and once again become an issue (Looking at you, Bradford pear!).

STUMPEX is able to go almost two feet beneath the surface in a single pass. This makes going lower on subsequent passes easier as well.

4. Performs Well in Less Than Ideal Conditions

STUMPEX is an auger stump grinder that doesn’t discriminate based on conditions. For stubborn and rocky terrains, it’s able to break through the soil and cut with the efficiency of richer soil. It’s particularly ideal for tearing up roots that are impossible for other grinders to reach.

5. Mountable

A skid-steer can offer that extra bit of push and convenience necessary for getting to some of the more stubborn stumps in your yard. Setting the STUMPEX up on a skid-steer is easy and efficient.

Simply set it to the appropriate diameter and go straight down as the stump and surrounding feeder roots are obliterated. You can hit the Fecon shop for a demonstration.
