Many people usually tend to think that the new Mahindra XUV400 EV is an electric version of the Mahindra XUV300. They are not wrong, though, as both cars have identical looks. But the indigenous carmaker decided to use that nomenclature because the XUV400 EV’s proportions are different. It is longer and taller than the XUV300 but has the same width as its sub-four-metre ICE-powered sibling. Specifications 

The indigenous car manufacturer has built the XUV400 EV on the XUV300’s five-star rated platform. This vehicle offers two options for battery packs: a 34.5 kWh and a 39.4 kWh. For your reference, a bigger battery pack translates to a longer range. These battery packs, however, are coupled with a single electric motor, which churns out 147.51 bhp and 310 Nm of peak torque. In case, you are thinking that the XUV400 EV is the only vehicle offered by Mahindra and Mahindra- you are right, but just for a time being. In addition, EV-oriented buyers will get to see more Mahindra cars that will enter the Indian EV segment.

However, the XUV400 EV spins its front wheels with the help of a single-speed automatic transmission.

As far as the figures are concerned, the smaller battery pack version has an MIDC-claimed range of 375 km, while the bigger battery pack has a claimed range of 456 km. And, for your reference, the 39.4 kWh battery pack is exclusive to the top-of-the-line variant of the XUV400 EV. Apart from that, this vehicle offers three types of chargers: a 3.3 kWh Domestic Charger, a 7.2 kWh AC charger and a 50 kW DC fast charger. The domestic charger takes approximately 13 hours to fully replenish the battery, while the 7.2 kWh AC charger takes 6.5 hours. As for the DC fast charger, it can charge from 0-80% within 50 mins.

Besides the engine output, the Mahindra XUV400 EV has its wheels controlled by a MacPherson Strut with Anti Roll Bar at the front and a Twist Beam with Coil Spring suspension at the rear. This vehicle might offer a comfortable and stiff ride. With the stiff suspension, it can offer more stability at high speeds, and with soft suspension, it can absorb bumps from potholes with ease. Exterior

The Mahindra XUV400 EV’s exterior is undoubtedly a head-turner. The Satin-Copper accents across the body, including on the unexposed grille make the front fascia of the vehicle even more imposing and premium. Satin-Copper treatments are found below the LED headlights (in L-shape), the front bumper’s lower section, and on the centre of the front bumper. You will also notice the new Mahindra logo in that colour. As for the side profile, the carmaker has retained the silhouette. The roof and the lower section of the side profile have Satin-Copper accents as well.    

Coming to the rear end, the XUV400 EV has the new Mahindra logo and the “XVU400” badging on the tailgate in the Satin Copper colour.

Features

The Mahindra XUV400 EV has a good number of features. Once you ingress, this vehicle will welcome you with black leatherette seats with blue stitching that gives a sporty feel to the driver. In fact, you will notice blue stitching on the leather-wrapped multi-functional steering wheel as well. Besides that, this car offers a height-adjustable driver seat, a 12V charging port, a one-touch window (only on the driver’s side), and electrically adjustable ORVMs with turn indicators. Other features include an electric sunroof, rear window wiper with washer, drive modes (Fun, Fast and Fearless), EV statistics, and push start/stop button. Furthermore, the XUV400 offers an integrated seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto (wired), Apple CarPlay (wired), and a GPS Navigating system. For added convenience, this homegrown EV offers a mobile connectivity feature that lets the user access the vehicle’s data, such as fuel level, engine oil level, live location, last parked location, and upcoming service(s), to name a few. The Indian carmaker sells the XUV400 in three variants. The XUV400’s price starts at Rs 15.99 lakh for the base model, the EC, and goes up to Rs 18.99 lakh for the top model, the EL Fast Charger.
