What You Can Do To Treat Yourself At Home If You Have Covid-19?

Most people getting sick with COVID-19 will only have mild illness and can recover at home. Symptoms might last a week or two, and the patient might start feeling well in a week. Treatment is focused on reducing symptoms and includes rest, fluid intake, and pain relievers. 

It’s also important to take care of a sick person cautiously as you can also get a virus. If you are older and have any existing medical problems, like heart or lung disease or diabetes, you are at a higher risk of getting ill with COVID-19.

Eating a healthy balanced diet is very important during the COVID-19 pandemic. What we eat and drink majorly affects our body’s ability to fight, prevent, and recover from the virus. 

While no food or supplements can prevent or cure the infection of the COVID-19 virus. 

For babies, a Healthy diet means milk from the mother only in the first six months. For young children, a healthy balanced diet is very important for development and growth. For older people, it helps to ensure healthy and more active lives.

Healthy eating tips during this COVID-19 pandemic:

1. Eat fresh natural produce

It is important to ensure that you eat plenty of fresh fruits, legumes, vegetables, nuts, and grains (oats, wheat, and brown rice) and a good amount of proteins like milk, eggs, fish, and meat. 

Protein is a major factor for increasing the immune response, hence eating a protein-rich diet is what you can do to improve immune response and fighting the infection. The diet should include high-quality protein like mung beans, chickpeas, nuts, almonds, walnuts, and animal protein like seafood, meat, and eggs which can protect you against the virus attack. 

2. Go for fruits and Vegetables

It is important to have four servings of fresh fruits filled with vitamins A, C, and other essential nutrients. Amla, oranges, papaya, watermelons, kiwi, grapes, mango, pineapple, and strawberries are some of the fruits loaded with important nutrients and helps to build immunity against infections. 

3. Stay well hydrated

Water is essential for life, it gives nutrients and vital compounds in the blood helps to regulate body temperatures, removes toxins, and lubricates the muscles and joints. It is advised to drink 8-10 cups of water daily. Freshly boiled water is best, you can also include beverages like lemonade, fresh juices, soups, tender coconut water, and tea or hot coffee in limited quantity. 

4. Add superfoods

Indian Kitchen is a store of herbs and spices like garlic, ginger, black pepper, cinnamon turmeric, basil leaves, amla, black cumin, and jeera. These superfoods are filled with bioactive plant compounds and rich in antioxidants that can improve the immune system. 

5. Moderate amount of Fat

You can go for unsaturated fats such as sesame oil, gingelly oil, sunflower oil, coconut oil rather than saturated fats. Avoid all trans-fat and processed meats as they are high in fat and salt. Consume low-fat milk and dairy products.

6. Freshly cooked home foods

Consuming fresh home-cooked food, Home-cooked as it is wholesome and also reduces the rate of contact with other people and reduces the chance of being exposed to the COVID-19 virus.
