How can you impress your new company right away? Read this guide for insights on putting your best foot forward at your new job. 

Lay Out Clothes

The night before, place clothes that you’ll be wearing into work. It’s best to overdress if you’re not sure about the wardrobe. 

See if they provide you with a handbook that has proper work attire. Dressing the part will help you feel more confident about the role. Consider bringing a sweater, too, if they keep the AC low. 

Choose Your Breakfast

Have fruit, protein, and a well-balanced meal before your meeting. It’ll help you avoid fatigue throughout the day. 

Pack Your Bag

Bring all important information to make a positive first impression. Plan ahead and have a checklist of what to bring that morning.

Understand Your Benefits

Understand your benefits such as your 401K, sick leave, health insurance, etc. If you have questions, be sure to speak with human resources. 

Find out if unused time off gets rolled over. See if there are any team-building activities that they have throughout the year. 

Don’t Gossip

While it’s easy to get roped into gossip, don’t do it. Gossip could hurt your reputation at the company. 

Even if others partake in it, it could set the wrong impression about you. If you have a problem, go to your manager with a solution. 

Ask for Feedback

Ask for feedback. This will help you grow and improve as an employee. 

Find out what they view as your greatest strengths, weaknesses, and what you bring to the company. Anything that exceeds their expectations. Be open to criticism since no one is perfect. 

Be honest with yourself about how you can improve. Think about how you can add more value to your team. Take initiative in various projects and help your coworkers and manager along the way. 

Even if remote, you can keep in touch through social platforms such as Slack. Be sure to understand the various tools you’ll need to use for your position. 

Meet Deadlines

Impress your manager by meeting deadlines. If you don’t submit assignments on time, it might give off a bad first impression. 

Pay attention to all instructions given. This will show that they can trust and depend on you.
